An absolutely filmmaking, all’Opera
At least a few words on Tamerlano of Davide Livermore expenses are. Wednesday 4 October we witnessed the seventh and last performance of this famous work, Included 428 ° season of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. And it was a very unique experience: a beautiful sight and attention to detail, maniacally from every point of view, as it's always been, at least until a few years ago, for the world-famous theater that last season was showing signs of fatigue and difficulty, especially from the point of view scenic artist.
This Tamerlano, It operates in three acts taken from the booklet Nicola Francesco Haym and Agostino Piovene, the baroque and penetrating music georg Friedrich Handel, lasting nearly five hours, had directed a fresh and young, surprising and film. Leaving aside for a moment the orchestra conducted by very well Diego Fasolis, who worked with “Barocchisti” of RSI-Radiotelevisione Svizzera, the show impresses with its grandeur and originality. Absolutely outstanding Lucia Cirillo, that in one day he learned the vocals of Marianne CREBASSA, in Irene cloths, replaced in the staging director from server, which he has created an interesting “dubbing on stage”, that nothing is subtracted from the normal course of the show.
Design bloated, curate, PROUD, and not at all trivial, rebuilding an early twentieth-century Russia, which contrasted environment in a functional manner with the story set in instead 1400, accompanied by costumes between Charleston and the First World War. The cars of a moving train almost always occupied horizontally across the stage, on which every element has moved with rhythm and fluidity, favored by a dynamic directed, enriched by the amazing video Videomakers D-Wok, They are dragging us from indoors to outdoors, metaforizzate visually by the passions of the characters, environments reconstructed in the most likely one.
A fresh direction and dynamic, who knew how to play and above all very well on Rewind space-time (in the work that I have never seen used), managed extremely well by moving back and forth extras, often involved in sensual movements, contemporary and meaningful, and that at times seemed to us twice, three times what they were, so their movements and their positions were accurate and studied in every detail, in order to enrich the meaning of the staging.
Something very cinematic in this show from running musical and classic and perfect song. An interaction exists between historical and contemporary, which are mutually enriched. Memorable, if not beautiful, some scenes, as the slow move away of the whole stage (and so metaphorically of life) da Asteria, the gang rape scene, funny inserts the periodic departure of the train, rendered through the backward stroke of the extras. But even the possibility, also film, to see at the same time internal and external of the train, with great fluency. Or the visual expression of anger Andronicus, which brings down the facade of the palace with fists of fury. Not to forget the final, under the snow, while the frost penetrates the characters' bones, inside the great hall, intimately exhausted and drained by the changes of history.
A truly amazing sight, as should all those of Scala. exceptional Costumes (of Marianna Failure), grandiose sets and fine (of the same Livermore e di Gio Form) and the beautiful, very special items Franco Fagioli and Bejun Mehta, almost hypnotic in their voice blooms and sometimes similar to nightingales. A direction that has been able to significantly enhance a passionate and compelling storyline, but that in itself would have granted a final and almost absurd.
The Ottoman Empire and Tsarist Russia, Thus the aristocracy death as a function of the people's dominance, with all its pros and cons, relive the quest’ Opera 1724 which adds to the many born from the seventeenth century onwards around the figure of the famous Central Asian conqueror Timur Barlas (in chagatai Timor, temur, “ferro”, anche Timur-e Lang, Tamerlane in lingua farsi, namely East “the lame”), known in the West as Tamerlano (a Tamerlane, or Tamburlaine), who was leader and General turkish-Mongolian, founder Timurid Empire, protagonist in Central Asia and Persia between 1370 e il 1407, predecessor of the Mughal dynasty in India.
A show simply beautiful.
